Bromley’s Investment in Libraries Proves Its Value with West Wickham Reopening

Bromley’s continued investment in its libraries was clearly justified by the strong turnout at the reopening of West Wickham Library on 27th June.

This marks the most ambitious modernisation of our libraries to date, delivered as part of the Council’s £30 million investment in the borough’s library service.

The Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Jonathon Andrews, officially opened the library, joined by Cllr Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing, along with the dedicated team from LBB who made this transformative project a reality.

The upgraded library offers far more than traditional book lending. With facilities including 3D printers, sewing machines, a community space, and a business lounge, it has already gained recognition, being shortlisted for Best Retrofit Project in the Building London Planning Awards.

Bromley was recently confirmed as the London borough with the highest number of book loans—a testament to our thriving library service. We are confident that the revitalised West Wickham Library will inspire residents of all ages to discover and enjoy its outstanding facilities first-hand.
