The London Fire Brigade’s emergency firefighting response is being praised following the fire in Beckenham today.

As always in this type of emergency scenario, the Council’s emergency planning response team were on standby to support local residents and the emergency services should this have been needed.

Councillor Angela Page, Executive Councillor for Public Protection and Enforcement said, “It is hard to believe how quickly life and situations change and the prompt and brilliant response of our brave firefighters is again deeply appreciated.  I know the LFB also worked extremely hard to prevent the fire spreading to adjoining buildings, including a cinema, with this successful work also appreciated as well.  Had there been a need to open a rest centre for displaced residents, the Council were on hand to do this and I am also grateful to Citygate Church for their willing support if this proved necessary.”

Further information about the fire is published on the London Fire Brigade website.
