Re-Open West Wickham and Penge Police Bases

Petition to Re-open Police Bases in West Wickham and Penge:

We the undersigned call on the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to re-open Police bases in West Wickham and Penge to replace those he previously closed.

These closures have resulted in many of Bromley Borough’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) being based at Bromley Police Station or at the remaining base in Albemarle Road in Beckenham. As such, their ability to patrol local neighbourhoods depends on the availability of public bus transport. We are concerned that too much Police time is being lost; time which officers could spend in the communities which they serve.

The Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Mark Rowley, said in his ‘New Met for London’ Strategy that he wants Police bases re-opened so that officers are no more than 20 minutes from their communities. We call on the Mayor to provide the funding to re-open these two important bases so local Police teams have a base in the neighbourhood.
