Councillor for Beckenham Town & Copers Cope ward
Michael Tickner is an experienced and active local Councillor who has represented Copers Cope residents for a number of years. He lives off Court Downs Road and commutes to London from Beckenham Junction every day.He has wide experience of Planning and Traffic Management issues, and is currently Chairman of the Beckenham Town Centre group which has successfully led the bid to secure £4.3m funding for a major public realm improvement.  New sign posts and litter bins have already appeared in the High Street.

Government to take over Southeastern Rail Services from 17th October

The Government have announced that as of the 17th October 2021 the Department of Transport’s “Operator of Last Resort” (OLR) will take over the management of the London Southeastern Franchise. Tickets and services will supposedly be unaffected by this change.

Beckenham’s Member of Parliament, Bob Stewart, has called on Southeastern Railways to be more transparent in how decisions are taken as to when local services will be reinstated. While services between Beckenham Junction to London Victoria have now returned to pre-pandemic levels, the operator has not committed to reinstating the rush hour direct services to London Blackfriars, something the local Conservatives are campaigning for.
