On the 13th June, the Local Conservative Team were thrilled to attend the first meeting of Real Access Makes Progress (R.A.M.P.), an initiative which aims to encourage “easy access for all” at shops and venues throughout Beckenham High Street.

Taking place at Kelsey House bar on Beckenham High Street, the first recipient of the certificate, we were thrilled to see significant engagement from a range of representatives. This included Thomas Turrell AM, Councillors Adam Grant, Hannah Gray, and Colin Hitchins, as well as Beckenham Town candidates, Stephen Ayshford and Patrick Olliffe.

Organisers explained the impact that easy access has on those with difficulty, going on to show the large proportion of premises that aren’t accessible.

The launch of this certification system aims to encourage businesses to make the minor improvements that are required, having a hugely positive impact on those who would usually struggle with accessibility.

Subsequently, this is a crucial issue for Beckenham, with a vibrant High Street, including shops, restaurants and bars, everyone should be able to benefit and go where they like.

Your Local Conservative Team is excited to support this initiative and believes that businesses will be equally enthusiastic about being involved.
