Serena Gupta has been chosen as the third Conservative candidate in the ward following Councillor Felicity Bainbridge’s decision to stand down at the elections next year.

Councillors across the borough will be elected in May 2026. Residents across Shortlands and Park Langley will have three votes, as that is how many Councillors represent the area at the Civic Centre.

Felicity Bainbridge, who was first elected in May 2022, has decided not to seek re-election. Serena Gupta has been selected to join sitting Councillors Adam Grant and Gemma Turrell (who are seeking re-election) on the Conservative ticket.

Serena has lived in the borough all her life. She works in Central London and commutes daily on the South London line to Victoria. As a History of Arts graduate, she is passionate about protecting cultural assets like the Churchill Theatre for future generations.

Serena said:

“Shortlands and Park Langley are such a beautiful area. The people and the character make it so special. I am so excited to get stuck into the campaign and working hard to show local people why they should elect me as a Councillor next May.”

Speaking about her decision to step down, Felicity said:

“I am so sorry to be going, being elected as a Councillor has been an absolute privilege. I have loved working with Aisha, Adam and more recently Gemma. Our area is served not just by hard-working Councillors but also by some incredible Residents Associations and voluntary groups such as Friends of Parks and the Safer Neighbourhood Panel – these have all been a total pleasure to work with.”
